There is an enormous total guaranteed prize pool of $30,000,000 – that’s $5m more than in 2011! With 40 events in SCOOP 2012 to look forward to, each with three levels of buy in representing low, medium and highs stakes – Spring just got a load better for online poker players. There are guaranteed prize pools at each level so no one misses out on the chance to be in the money. Billed as the event that everyone can play in, this promotion genuinely presents something for everyone, whatever the size of their bankroll.

In addition to the three levels of buy in there is a tremendous range of games to play in too – not just the players’ favourite NL Holdem – including Pot Limit Omaha, HORSE, 8 game, Badugi, NL Draw, Stud, Triple Stud and more.

You can buy in direct to any of the 40 events right now or, why not play in one of the non stop satellites that are running now? Satellite buy ins start at just $1.10 or 50 FPPs and are easily found by going to ‘Events’ then ‘SCOOP’ in the PokerStars lobby. The full schedule of SCOOP 2012 events are below.

Great news surfaced today that Pokerstars are in the process of buying out Full Tilt Poker (shut down last year) and all players will be refunded in full – but is rumour is true?

This morning the news broke on 2+2 (see the original thread and the phenomenal response from the poker community – Big News: PokerStars Purchases FTP) that Pokerstars had bought FTP, the post by an unknown member (this was their first post) simply said:-

“PokerStars has reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice to buy FTP. The things I heard:

* All players will be refunded 100%
* Both sites back online
* Both sites have promotions
* Employees remain in both places

Expect more news today.”

This was swiftly followed by a statement by the Groupe Bernard Tapie (published on the iGaming Post), who were previously considered to be buying FTP, that they were no longer purchasing FTP themselves but specifically mention a Pokerstars buy out in their release:-

We understand from press reports that the DOJ may have entered into an agreement with PokerStars pursuant to which PokerStars will acquire the FTP assets.?If accurate, we can only assume that PokerStars determined that it was willing to accept these legal and financial risks in order to resolve its own legal situation with DOJ.??If a PokerStars acquisition of FTP means that all FTP players will be fully repaid immediately, we are very happy for the players, as their final and full repayment has always been our priority.

Interesting indeed, couple this with nothing more than a ‘no comment’ from Pokerstars representatives and tantalising ‘this could be true’ comments by leading players in the poker world then this all seems to be heading on one positive direction.

If this is true then this is great news for all the players who lost their bankrolls when FTP shut down last year, even better news for all the US players who had their bankroll seized by the DOJ when FTP was forced out of the US market as “All players will be refunded 100%” can only mean everyone will be paid.

A few players have expressed concern about Pokerstars developing a monopoly in the poker world, well, guess what? They already have! They already dominate online poker and they still run huge promotions and have a fair loyalty program available to all players, more importantly they have already proved they act with integrity where players’ balances are concerned. This can only be good news for online poker.

One thing is for sure, if this is not true (and remember news of this came from a new member with only one post at 2+2) then it’s bad news for players hoping to recover lost bankrolls from FTP, as with Pokerstars and GBT out of the picture there is no longer a buyer and no solution in sight.

We’ll follow this story closely and update if anything is confirmed… or denied.

UPDATE: Pokerstars Head of Corporate Communications, Eric Hollreiser, has just made a statement on the Pokerstars Blog:-

“We’ve had a lot of enquiries and there’s lots of speculation on the forums, so I wanted to address the PokerStars chatter. As you know, PokerStars is in settlement discussions with the U.S. Department of Justice. As such settlement discussions are always confidential, we are unable to comment on rumors. As soon as we have information to share publicly we will do so.”

Pokerstars have introduced a new poker format which has proved to be an instant success with their players. ‘Zoom Poker’ cuts out the time spent waiting while other players finish a hand – allowing you to play far more hands per hour. Players are pooled together and then instantly recombined for each new hand, and the moment you hit the ‘Fast Fold’ button a brand new hand will start.

Readers who remember Rush Poker at Full Tilt will find the concept familiar, and with 1000’s of recreational players checking out the new game this is a great opportunity to head on over to Pokerstars and fill your bankroll with the easy pickings!

Pokerstars Zoom Poker – What Is Available?
Since the launch of the Beta software last Friday, Pokerstars have been gradually adding bigger buy-in levels to their Zoom Poker games. Blinds range from 1c / 2c through to 50c / $1, great for getting used to this game with a small buy-in before you play for bigger money. You can currently choose between No-Limit Holdem (6-max and 9-max sizes) or Pot-Limit Omaha High. There is a tab marked as ‘Other’ in the Zoom lobby, we look forward to seeing what other games will be added there. Full Tilt used to run Poker Tournaments in Rush format – so there is the potential for Zoom tournaments at some stage too.

Here’s what available right now, today. Keep in mind this screenshot was taken when most people were still asleep, the actual number playing at high peak times is much, much higher.

Pokerstars Zoom Poker – How To Play Zoom
To join a game you click on the buy-in level and table size you want, a screen then pops up asking for your buy-in amount (max is 100 times the big blind) and the number of times you want to join each pool. You can choose up to 4 ‘instances’ in each player pool – though if you are not used to the extra-fast action we recommend you start off with less!

Once the game starts the main difference you will see on the tables is a new ‘Fast Fold’ button. This allows you to fold before the action gets to you – the other players will not be able to see that you have folded. If you do play a hand the action will be exactly the same as in a regular poker game. You can even watch the end of a hand between other players by hitting the ‘control’ button as you fold.

The big blind is posted by the player with the most hands played since posting, with all of the other seating positions filled at random. When you have had enough, there is a ‘sit out next big blind’ button available – as well the option to sit out next hand.

Pokerstars Zoom Poker – Great Reasons To Play Zoom Poker Today
New games always attract recreational players at the start, which means the Zoom poker tables will be super-soft for the next couple of weeks at least. Even after this period of easy money there are some compelling reasons to play Zoom Poker. These include the fact the large number of hands per hour naturally leads to larger profits, and more VIP club rewards too – since you will be accumulating points faster. Zoom is great for short sessions, you can dip in, play a ton of hands and then go, something which regular cash games can be too slow for.

The best thing of all about this new poker format is that it is both profitable and fun. If you have not yet discovered Pokerstars.com for yourself you can claim your 100% matched welcome bonus while you check out the Zoom tables. Simply use Pokerstars Marketing Code DIRPOKER when you register and then Pokerstars bonus code STARS600 when you deposit.

Check out Zoom Poker right now – fun and big profits do not come together like this very often!

With these minimal buy ins these events are open to every PokerStars player, whatever the size of your bankroll.

As an extra special offer, just enter five or more MicroMillions events and you will be credited with a ticket to play in an exclusive freeroll with a prize pool of $50,000 on April 1st.

With 100 MicroMillions events going on from now until 25th March there really is something to suit everyone. Instead of just publishing a schedule (there are 100 events) we’ve had a good look through to save you the bother, and here is a, one every day, pick n mix for you:

EPT changes players lives with the glory of being crowned an EPT champion plus the huge cash prizes awarded – this is the richest and biggest live poker tour in the World!. At the moment the EPT8 player of the year leaderboard has Czech pro Ondrej Vinlarek at the No.1 spot, but with three events still to go before the Grand Final it’s all still definitely to play for at EPT Season 8.

The European Poker Tour’s next stop, for only the second time, is the Spanish Capital – Madrid. EPT Madrid is coming up very soon, March 12th – 17th. The online satellites have drawn to a close for EPT Madrid. You can still buy in direct for €5,300 via PokerStars at registrations@pokerstars.com for a seat at the Casino Gran Madrid. If you’ve missed out on EPT Madrid make sure you’re in with a chance to play at EPT Campione, EPT Berlin or even the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo Casino EPT Grand Final – the European Poker Tour’s glittering prizes and huge prize purses await you!

Be quick and you can claim your place at the very first EPT Campione hosted by Casino di Campione this March 26th to 31st. Campione (d’Italia), is a small Italian municipality covering less than a square mile within Switzerland, it’s a stunning place on Lake Lugano and known as a poker hotspot! When you win an EPT Campione prize package at Stars you will have a seat at the Main Event, your hotel will be booked for you and you will be given cash to help towards expenses. Being part of this inaugural event will be a thrill for any poker player and you can be part of EPT Campione by playing in an online qualifier for as little as €5.45 or just 100 frequent player points, find these qualifiers which are still running around the clock through ‘Events’ then ‘EPT’ in the Pokerstars lobby. See just where you will be playing, it looks great – http://www.casinocampione.it/english/index.php.

One of the biggest stops on the tour is coming along next, EPT Berlin, Germany April 16th to 21st to be held at the Spielbank Berlin on Marlene-Dietrich-Platz. EPT Berlin has, in the past, attracted a big field of keen poker players looking to get their hands on the glory and the prize money – last years winner Canadian Ben Wilinofsky took the title plus €825,000, nice one! This is where you’ll be playing in Berlin – www.spielbank-berlin.de.
