Full Tilt High Stakes Golf – Results
November 10th, 2007 | by Admin |For those who missed the ESPN shows, here are the results for the Full Tilt High Stakes Golf tournaments.
Event 1
Each player put in a $1m wager (yes, that’s $1,000,000) and split into teams for a Three Man Team Scramble with $1m to be won per hole for 9 holes. When the teams drew for a hole (in other words it was a tie), no blood (no money) was won for that particular hole. So this is how the lads finished…
- 1st Doyle Brunson (on crutches), Dewey Tomko and Vince Van Patten won 2 Holes (2 and 9) – prize $2m.
- 2nd Daniel Negreanu, Erick Lindgren and Josh Arieh won 1 hole (4) - prize $1m.
- 3rd Russ Hamilton, Phil Helmuth and Billy Walters won 1 hole (8) - prize $1m.
Event 2
Event 2 was a 18 hole best ball tournament. This time the great and the good from Full Tilt split up into two person teams with each team wagering $250,000. The top four teams would split the purse of $2.25m, this is how the teams finished:-
- 1st Phil Ivey and David Oppenheim (Phil Ivey made putt at 18th to win event) -2. Prize = $1,125,000
- 2nd John Hanson and Mickey Appleman -1. Prize = $562,500
- 3rd Dewey Tomko and Doyle Brunson + 1. Prize = $337,500
- 4th Eric Lindgren and Daniel Negreanu + 2. Prize = $75,000
- 5th Hilbert Shirey and Bill Walters + 2. Prize = $75,000
- 6th Huck Seed and David Grey + 2. Prize = $75,000
- 7th Butch Holmes and Al De Carlo + 5
- 8th Janet Jones-Gretzky and Vince Van Patten + 6
- 9th Phil Helmuth and Russ Hamilton + 6
The players had decided and played by their own format and rules, a good time was had by all, and High Stakes Golf proved to be great entertainment - especially for those who took part (not me unfortunately - maybe next year if I win the FTOPS VI final event! Stop laughing - I can dream can’t I?)
