Qualify for WSOP 2008 - it’s not too late!

Well, instead of sadly marking off the side events on your Poker Calendar buck up your ideas and give yourself a chance to play in the Main Event. There are still masses of Main Event seats out there up for grabs and I’ve had a look around on your behalf and have come up with this info, read on dear poker player….
Full Tilt Poker
Full Tilt produced the most amazing selection of promotions to tempt their players to Vegas this summer. These promotions are covered in our Full Tilt Review and individually in depth on this blog (links below). These promotions run until June 22nd – and beyond! I must mention a one off tournament, the 150 Seat Main Event Guarantee, where the sats start at $2.25 or you can buy in direct for $535, on 15th June the top 150 players will be awarded prize packages worth $12K, just goes to show you don’t have to be first to win!

Pokerstars are sending more players to Vegas to compete in WSOP than any other online poker site. Get to Pokerstars now to play in the WSOP 2008 Main Event, you have until the 27th June to secure your seat.
- WSOP packages are still available with satellites with buy ins for as little as $2.20 or 250 Frequent Player Points (FPPs).
- On June 15th at 9.30pm UK (4.30pm New York) the biggest ever WSOP qualifier is taking place – the 200 Main Event Seat Giveaway – buy in for $370 or feed in through one of the satellites which start at $2.20 or 250 Frequent Player Points (FPPs).

Party Poker’s software is still awash with qualifiers and a generous package, as you would expect from Party, is on offer.
- Buy in to a qualifier that are still running for as little as $1
- Buy in direct to one of Party’s finals for $580, these will be held on Fridays at 11.00pm UK (6.00pm New York) and Sunday at 8.25pm UK (3.25pm New York) but I don’t know for how long – TBA.
Party Poker’s WSOP package is worth $13,500, including getting put up in the Rio, where all the action is.
Mansion Poker
There’s still an excellent chance to qualify for the World Series courtesy of Mansion Poker and very generous prize packages are still up for grabs.

- The WSOP Main Event packages are being played for on Tuesdays and Saturdays up until June 15th – buy in $320
- There is a super satellite tournament coming up on 15th June with 20 prize packages to be awarded, entry is by daily freerolls and cash games. Everyone loves a freeroll and these are for 1st time depositors and to reward loyal players.
Prize packages are $16,000 (who said size didn’t matter), so with Mansion Poker you get $6,000 expenses!
Doyles Room
Doyles Room’s satellites are still running and the WSOP 08 promotion doesn’t end until 21st June.
- Continuous sit n go’s are running with a $15.40 buy in.

The above tournaments feed onto weekly semi finals with a buy in of $140, the prize packages are awarded at the fortnightly finals where if you haven’t managed to satellite in you can buy in for $1,140.
Doyles prize packages are worth $13,000 that’s $10,000 buy in and $3,000 for expenses.
Bodog Poker
In June Bodog are awarding 5 Main Event prize packages a week I couldn’t find out when the last chance sats are being held so play sooner rather than later.
- The cheap seat qualifiers are a bargain at $1.50 to play, and you have three chances a day, 2.30am (UK) 9.30pm (New York), 7.40am (UK) 2.40am (New York), 7.20am (UK) 2.20pm (New York)– this is the cheapest way in.
There are buy-ins to suit every bankroll but all the qualifiers lead to:-
- The weekly semis on Sundays held at 8.15pm (UK) 3.15pm (New York). The buy in at this stage is $270 and remember that there are 5 seats to be awarded guaranteed – that means regardless of the number of players.
The prize packages are $12,000 equating to $10,000 for entry into the Main Event and $2,000 expenses. Bodog expect to send a posse of 100+ players to Las Vegas. If you don’t manage to get to Vegas or just can’t spare the time this year Bodog bring you Mini-SOP an online replica series at the fraction of the buy in.
Ladbrokes Poker
Ladbrokes tournaments are still running! To be in with a chance join the biggest team of European players by playing in the following tournies:
- Buy in to a WSOP satellite they start at $12 – buy into the finals for $1,090, there are just two left on 11th and 18th June at 7.45pm UK (12th and 19 June 12.45am New York)
- There are 2 weekly rake races left on 8th and 15th June
- Ladbrokes are going to deal their billionth hand this June and to celebrate they are holding a freeroll where the top 20 finishers will walk away with a $14,000 WSOP prize package – the next 200 runners up will get a free go at the WSOP Daily Finals. All you have to do to play is to have earned 50 Ladbrokes points on the day the hand is dealt.
The Ladbrokes package is worth $14,000 - $10,000 buy in to Main Event and $4,000 expenses.
Cake Poker
Two offerings from Cake Poker – cake and mini cake!
- Cake is the prize package which takes you to the Main Event, weekly semis finals on Sundays at 7.30pm (UK) 2.30pm (New York) with a buy in of $33 lead to the finals where the seats are awarded – buy in direct for $215 and play on Sundays at 10pm (UK) 5pm (New York).
- Mini cake is a prize package to Side Event 52 held on 30th June. Get to Vegas by way of $12 rebuy and add on tournaments held on Saturdays at 10pm (UK) 5pm (New York) and Wednesday at 12.30am (UK) 7.30pm (New York).
The prize packages are worth $12,000 for the main event, that’s $10,000 buy in and $2,000 expenses. Mini cake side event prize package is worth $2,000 - $1,500 buy in and $500 expenses. Last dates for these tournies TBA – get playing whilst you can!
- There are continuous sit n go’s until June 20th – the buy in is $15.40

As you can see there are still plenty of opportunities to qualify for WSOP 08, but you’ll have to get a wiggle on and if you still find yourself at home for the World Series this year, well, there’s always next year!
